Priceline's Founder Gives Some Tips

I found an article that I thought was pretty good about how to promote your business to the media in order to get media begging to write about you. It is a very short article, but the author, Jeff Hoffman, has some great points. He is an entrepreneur and helped found Priceline.com.

"How Smart Companies Use PR to Get the Word Out"

  1. I have to mention how interesting this article is and the impact you need to make to get writers and people in your side. His instance where he started his company with some good ideas of how to draw them in. I also had a look at the website and they seem to be doing very well as a company. I suppose what you need to remember is what really draws in your customers.

  2. This is very smart PR strategy! Among posts on this blog, I chose to read this article, because I mostly use Priceline when I purchase flight tickets.
I never realized that "PR is the powerful tool that can make the firm the talk of the town without spending a lot." I knew only that it is very effective tool to communicate with publics. When I read the two headings, "No one cares about your story," and "PR masters don't write stories about themselves," I was like "what? That is not true." But after reading the each first paragraph, I got the point. Yes, that is true that no one cares that someone launched a new company. I didn't know one of friends of mine opened a cafeteria until he posted photos of the cafeteria on Facebook. Even after I knew about the cafeteria, I never visit the cafeteria or try to learn about something. I thought PR practitioners wrote stories about the firm or the products. But, Jeff Hoffman mentioned that PR masters write stories about their customers, which make sense. As a customer, I would like to keep using the company that writes about me or other customers. This article points out very important facts!

  3. People with the most money can have an excellent idea about something but if you don’t know how to market it, promotion, and advertise that certain product or idea it won’t have get you anywhere. You have to know how to do those things in order to be successful. Money can’t buy everything. Public Relations can be very effective marketing and advertising tool if done right. One thing that really stood out to me in this article is that PR masters don’t right about themselves but they right stories about their customers. By doing that PR masters are successful. You right something about the customer not yourself because it shows that you care. I couldn’t agree with that more.

  4. I found this article very interesting as well. It was really cool to see his idea of how he would get the media to write about him and to get him and his business on the mainstream. This is a very smart idea for PR because it doesn't cost you a lot of money like some other PR campaigns or strategies. Being able to get your name out their and to do it for a low cost is very beneficial
